As we move towards the end of September it is clearly evident that St. Catherine’s is well and truly into the swing of the new school year.  Another busy Partnership with Parents meeting on Tuesday saw Mrs. Krasoudaki discuss a range of matters with Key Stage One parents. The extra-curricular clubs programme is up and running – it is always great to see so many of our children getting involved with additional activities at the end of the day and at the weekends.

Last night we welcomed Mrs. Jones back to the school for our Key Stage Four Prize Giving – it was fitting that our recently retired Head of Key Stage Four should speak to our prize-winners and present the Awards.  I must say that there was a really positive feel to the whole evening and I would like to congratulate the students once again for their excellent achievements.

Today the school has turned PINK! Students and staff have been wearing pink to raise money for the breast cancer charity “Race for A Cure.” On Sunday St Catherine’s will have the biggest school team at the race which starts at Zappeion at 11:30  – over 150 of the St Cats community will be walking/ running to raise money for this worthy cause.  In aid of the same charity our resident staff “Iron Man” Christos Latanis, will be swimming the length of the Corinth Canal on Tuesday 27th September – we wish him well and trust the weather will not provide any additional difficulties!

We always know that the term is fully underway when we reach the St. Cats Debate Cup Saturday.  I understand that tomorrow will see a record number of schools attending from Athens – I look forward to enjoying some vociferous and articulate debate contests.

Other events to look out for next week include:

  • Tuesday 27th September: Partnership with Parents – Yrs 5 & 6
  • Wednesday 28th September: Partnership with Parents – Yr 7
  • Wednesday 28th September: Yr 2 Nea Makri trip
