As we move towards the October half-term the school is buzzing with activity – as one would expect at the St. Catherine’s! Today’s lovely weather sees us hosting the Varsity Girls Football tournament whilst our Year 8 are out at the silver mines of Lavrio and the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio and Year 9 are at Vouliagmeni Lake in Perachora.  Our IA Gold expedition are on their third day at Menalo on the Peloponnese returning on Saturday.

As you will see from the picture galleries the Year 9 had a fascinating half-day trip to the Cycladic Museum to see the work of the acclaimed Chinese artist/architect Ai Weiwei.  The IB Theatre Group visited London last week for the three day educational ISTA Taps Theatre workshop – the students came back ecstatic and tired after some really stimulating sessions – also slightly relieved to make it back given the threat of the Air Traffic Controllers’ strike!

I would also like to draw your attention to both the Lower School and Upper School News Bulletins – the Lower School Bulletin has been sent out to parents for some time now and the first issue of the new-style Upper School Bulletin owes something to their lead.  I do hope they will not stop you reading my Blog!

Congratulations too are due to Nikolas Bougos who on Spetses last weekend ran a time of 39.51 minutes in the 10K race winning the Bronze medal in the Under 29s category.  On the Sunday he won the Gold medal in the under 17s 5K race in a time of 16.51 minutes (a personal best).  Bravo as well to Danny Cronin who took the Bronze medal in the same race!

Before I close one final very polite reminder – if you have yet to complete the ISI questionnaire you have until midnight tonight – Friday, 14th October to do so.  We would really appreciate your input!
