As we hasten towards Christmas, the pace of life at St. Catherine’s is maintaining its momentum with so much going on across the whole school.  Our Anti-Bullying theme last week brought out the creative talents of our Key Stage Three pupils in a most focused and poignant way in their assembly on Thursday morning whilst creativity was again on the agenda as the Reception classes visited the Creative Arts Centre.  Parents, current and potential, were also in school for our Year 12 Parents’ Evening on Wednesday with the Lower School Open Day on the Thursday.  The philanthropic work of the school was again in evidence as the Upper School held a Mufti Day on Friday raising money for the World Toilet Day charity.  It was certainly matched by the Early Years Pyjama Day earlier in the week – the children and the staff particularly Mrs. Mengos were something to behold!

The weekend was once again extremely busy with the Year 10 International Award Bronze students heading up to Parnitha and the school hosting the Shaktor Indian Art Competition sponsored by the Indian Embassy.  St Catherine’s received Highly Commended recognition for two pieces by Natalia Kalliaras (10B) and Rea Silvia Emmanouil (9A) – both are shown on the St. Cats Today picture gallery.  The Deree College Invitational Debate Tournament saw St. Catherine’s students performing impressively – Sam Manchester with his partner from Athens College were the overall winners whilst Ioannis Karellis and his partner form St. Lawrence also reached the final and Fonie Mitsopoulou was a semi-finalist.  Bravo to all!

Bravo as well to Nikolaos Kamarinakis from Year 11 – following a successful internship earlier in the Year, Nik was chosen for the Greek Cyber Security Challenge Team and he recently took part in the European Cup in Dusseldorf, Germany.  Not only was he the youngest competitor in the whole competition but Greece came a commendable 5th – even beating the team from the United Kingdom!  A brilliant achievement – well done Nik.
