Dear Parents and Guardians,

As I am sure you are already aware on Friday, the Greek Government announced an extension of the closure of all educational institutions as well as the suspension of all educational excursions domestically and abroad until 10th April, 2020 which is of course the start of the Easter holiday. This decision was taken for “preventative reasons following recommendations from the National Committee for the Protection of Public Health against the COVID-19 Coronavirus.”

Furthermore the IBO will shortly be announcing formally the cancellation of this year’s IB examinations. Dr Bond and Mrs Peters will be in contact with more information for our IB2 students and their families after the official release of the details later this morning. The school will obviously be doing everything to support our IB2 students at this nerve-wracking time.

As you will appreciate, the staff continue to put in a great deal effort and long hours preparing materials and guiding students. As I mentioned in my message on Thursday, in order to develop the remote learning experience, we have been organising a range of staff training activities as we wish to give them the opportunity to reflect and share practices as well as learn and develop further new platforms and applications. Therefore this Tuesday, 24th March is a staff training day and there will be no online sessions and no new material will be posted for students and pupils. Children can take this day as an opportunity to catch up on any unfinished work.  Therefore we will be developing further our remote learning programme incorporating a greater range and variety of activities and materials as well as creating more opportunities for more face-to-face interaction.

I would also like to draw your attention to our Coronavirus Information page on the school website which contains all the correspondence sent out by the school as well as a range of useful links and guidelines for reference during this current global crisis. We hope you find it useful.

With all best wishes and please stay safe.
